Upgrading from Previous Versions
This topic describes the process for upgrading an adTempus installation from an earlier version.
If you are upgrading from a previous adTempus version, you can (and should) install this version 4 without removing the previous version. The setup process will upgrade your existing installation.
Upgrading from adTempus 4.x
If you are upgrading from an earlier adTempus 4.x version, this is a minor update to correct issues and introduce new features. For a complete list of changes in this release, refer to the release notes.
Database update required
If you are upgrading from adTempus version 4.8 or earlier, the setup process will make changes to the adTempus database schema to support new features in this release. These updates are backward-compatible (you can revert to an earlier version of adTempus without needing to restore your database from a backup).
To complete the installation process, you must be running setup from an account that has System Administrator privileges for the adTempus database, or have access to the login credentials for a System Administrator, if your database server supports user ID/password security.
Upgrading Multiple Instances
If you have multiple instance of adTempus installed, the Database Configuration Wizard will prompt you during installation to select an instance to update. Setup will only update the specified instance. After setup completes, run the Database Configuration Wizard from the adTempus group on the Start menu and select each additional instance to upgrade that instance.
Upgrading from earlier adTempus versions
If you are upgrading from adTempus version 3.x or 2.x, refer to the Upgrading from Version 3 topic for more information.
