Confirm Server Certificate
The Confirm Server Certificate window appears if you try to connect to an adTempus server that is using an invalid or untrusted server certificate to identify itself. This is most likely to occur if the server is using a self-signed certificate or if the certificate was issued by a certifying authority that your computer does not recognize. However, it could also indicate that traffic between the Console and the server is being intercepted and re-encrypted using a forged certificate.
Before trusting the connection you should confirm with the administrator of the adTempus server that the certificate you are seeing is the correct certificate. To do this:
- On the computer where the adTempus service is installed, run the Endpoint Configuration Tool.
- Compare the Thumbprint for the certificate selected in the Endpoint Configuration Tool to the Thumbprint shown in the Confirm Server Certificate window and verify that they match exactly.
If the thumbprints match, the certificate is valid and the connection is secure.
If the thumbprints do not match, traffic between the computers is being intercepted and is not secure; you should not trust the connection.
Trust Certificate and Connect
Click the Trust Certificate and Connect button once you have confirmed that the server certificate is valid. This action will store the certificate information so that you are not prompted to confirm the certificate the next time you connect to this server.
